(Question) When I’m looking at a home inspector, what kind of stuff do they look into that they can let me be aware of?
(Answer) This is a great question and a great topic. First of all, you want to make sure the home inspector you’re using is an ASCII certified, insured and bonded inspector. That’s what they do for a living. They’re going to look at the electrical system, the plumbing, the heating system, the roof components to make sure you don’t have mold issues in the home. Those are the things they’re going to look for and are trained to do, and see things that we may not see on the surface. You don’t want to find these things when you close on a home and move in and have those come back to surprise you. They’re not going to be able to reveal everything but it is helpful to bring things out in the open so you can negotiate with the seller prior to closing. Otherwise, these are things you need to take care of when you move in.
